Before you make the final decision to start a career in supply chain management, it is a good idea to do some research first. Planning your career is not a quick decision nor should it be made lightly. Starting the Masters in Supply Chain and Logistics Program is a big step that will require a large investment in time and money, so you should be sure that you are ready to start. 1. Jobs Vary Industry to Industry

Although supply chain management is a general career pathway, each industry has some variances of jobs that fulfill that pathway. You can see clearly why working in the chemical industry would be different from the toy industry because each one has its own specialties. In the same way, each industry may have specialties that do not occur in all industries. To get a better feel of what you may be facing, you can research industries that are interesting to you. Like many numbers jobs, data is the main factor that drives a supply chain. Managing the chain is mostly based on managing the numbers. As a matter of course, managing crises is part of the supply chain management career. You will have times that you will work under a deadline and problems will occur to impact the deadline. You need to be able to work under pressure and find solutions to supplier problems.
 

5. Working as a Team is Priority

A supply chain manager is required to work within a team effort both in the department and in the company as a whole. Being able to collaborate with others on a routine basis is a learned skill that you can practice throughout your college program. Good collaborators will find this job much easier and more productive.
